صندوق قديم من الجلد البني جف وتشقق ، صندوق ذي غطاء أحدب مربوط بحزامين اسودت الأبازيم فيهما من القدم والإهمال حيث تقوم (أمل الغمراوي) بقراءة رسائل ومذكرات وبعض صحف تركتها البريطانية آنا ونتربون في هذا الصندوق، ومن تلك الأوراق تنسج أمل حكايتها وتدونها، تتحول آنا لشخصية عادت بعد ما يقارب 90 عامًا لتكون حية مع أمل في مخيلتها وتكون كشخص واقعي أمام عيونها، ومن خلال تلك الأوراق تكشف عن مصر منذ بداية 1900م وتسير بنا وتوضح حالة العالم العربي، وشراء الأراضي في فلسطين والتهجير، واحتلال بلدان شمال أفريقيا، وسبل المقاومة في كل منهما، والأخبار المتناثرة، والحياة وسط الإنجليز ووسط المعارضين ووسط الطبقة الحاكمة في تلك الفترة، تعرض مصر بأسلوبها وبقراءتها الخاصة في تلك الفترة.
