About this listen
The first in the series of the classic fantasy tales – The Chronicles of Narnia. Read by the unforgettable Sir Michael Hordern.
“Congratulate me, my dear boy,” said Uncle Andrew, rubbing his hands. “My experiment has succeeded. The little girl’s gone – vanished – right out of this world.”
After Uncle Andrew’s horrible trick, Digory has no choice but to travel over to the Other World in search of poor vanished Polly. Little does he realise that his uncle has unwittingly opened up the doorway to Narnia, a truly magical world, and that their adventures have only just begun…

Absolutely brilliant!
Sir Michael Hordern does a stellar job of retelling the story. Highlights include his voice of Aslan!

Good 👍 listen
This story had sound effects. The narrator read in different voices for each character. Fun

Enjoyable and brought back happy memories
I loved Michael Hordern’s performance, the story as always was great. Brought back memories of my younger years. A wonderful relaxing listen, with a few emotional moments sprinkled in.

argh! the music
this is one of my favourite childhood stories and it was beautifully read by the narrator. I am afraid I barley got though it due to the terrible choice of harp music. it really grated on me.
