About this listen

An animated version of The Lost Thing is being produced by Oscar Award-winning Passion Pictures, based in London.

A kid finds a lost "thing" on the beach where he's scavenging for his bottle top collection. The thing is a large, freakish creature but no one else really notices it, it's simply not a part of their familiar day-to-day reality. So the kid takes it upon himself to try to find where the lost thing belongs.

Editorial reviews

Talented narrator Humphrey Bower brings Shaun Tan's acclaimed picture book to life. In this sweet and wonderfully odd story, a child scavenging on the beach for his bottle-top collection finds a large lost creature and sets about finding it a home. Bower's Australian accent is pleasant and well suited to Tan's background. Eerie but fun music with a science-fiction feel adds to the experience, and kids (as well as lighthearted adults) will enjoy listening to this audiobook while poring over Tan's pictures.
