About this listen
In a startling follow-up to the New York Times best-seller The Jesus Family Tomb, a historical detective story that unravels a newly translated document filled with startling revelations and fascinating detail about the life and times of Jesus.
Waiting to be rediscovered in the British Library is an ancient manuscript of the early Church, copied by an anonymous monk. The manuscript is at least 1,450 years old, possibly dating to the first century, Jesus' lifetime. And now, The Lost Gospel provides the first-ever translation from Syriac into English of this unique document that tells the inside story of Jesus' social, family, and political life.
The Lost Gospel takes listeners on an unparalleled historical adventure through a paradigm-shifting manuscript. What the authors eventually discover is astounding: confirmation of Jesus' marriage to Mary the Magdalene; the names of their two children; the towering presence of Mary the Magdalene; a previously unknown plot on Jesus' life, thirteen years prior to the crucifixion; an assassination attempt against Mary the Magdalene and their children; Jesus' connection to political figures at the highest level of the Roman Empire; and a religious movement that antedates that of Paul - the Church of Mary the Magdalene. Part historical detective story, part modern adventure, The Lost Gospel reveals secrets that have been hiding in plain sight for millennia.

Fascinating perspective on Roman Judaic history
Really insightful take on the events pre and post the crucifixion era read through the shrouded figures of long hidden gospels. The Roman infighting and references to the work of Josephus the historian were both riveting and intriguing. Where ever one stands on this topic, it pays to have knowledge of this research.

Thought Provoking Revelation of Jesus & Mary
This book cleverly takes you on a mystery tour, using another rediscovered coded manuscript to shine a light into a side of Jesus & his contemporaries that you never really considered yet now seems so obvious. Reminding you with a brief history lesson that Jesus & his crucifixion was not a 'stand alone story' when placed against Rome: Political Intrigue, Imperial ambitions, assassination attempts, machinations, lust & subplots, surprisingly involving Galilee being closer to Rome's movers & shakers than you'd think. Jesus was a man of his times & no political novice! Mary the Magdala also shines as a renowned beauty, astute & independent woman. Very much Jesus' equal, perhaps the "it couple' of the time! This all comes together beautifully in a candid & well researched theory. The fact that the original scrolls contents had to be recorded using double meaning ambiguities gives an idea of the level of political turmoil of the time, dictating Jesus rise & fall.

Provocative and Thought Provoking
This account is superbly narrated and is thoroughly provocative and immensely thought provoking. It just makes sense on so many levels, well to me at least. Jesus married Mary, had sex, challenged the prevailing dogma of the day and was entirely aware of the politics involved. His underlying messages to love one another and to do unto others along with his many other teachings are enduring. I wonder where and what is living descendants are doing with their lives today? I enjoyed listening and reflecting on the many themes this audiobook contains. I enjoyed it immensely and will probably listen to it again.
For those who are wedded to the Pauline version of the bible, this book will rock your world…. Enjoy the ride…. :)

Excellent Investigstion
What an amazing investigation into the historical facts behind the fantasies of today's Christian message.
My mind feels cleansed from all the crazied nonsense and misogynistic dogma that I have been dealing with from churches (ie people) all my life
The authors of this book have laid bare all the lies and restored my faith in the humanity and divinity and relevance of Jesus and his wife Mary's message in my life with the best most up to date information that appears available
Not once do they let themselves off the hook in tracking down the loose ends of this story
Well done guys!
Today's church desperately needs this update and acceptance of these new findings for peace sake

Interesting
I think all religious people should have knowledge of the contents of this book at least to give a little more balance to some current practices
