On a warm spring evening, guests gather in a perfectly manicured garden to celebrate Maggie and Len’s twenty-fifth wedding anniversary. Maggie leans against the apple tree, watching her fun-loving husband and darling children as her heart swells with pride. As the joyful party atmosphere disappears into the night, close by, the lifeless body of a young woman is pulled from a river.

Another great story by Anna Lou
I have absolutely loved all of the Detective Dan Riley stories. Awesomely written and superbly narrated; the perfect combination, I really hope they continue with this partnership and series. I have been captivated by all of them from the very beginning.

Great story, engaging from the start.
Entertaining, non stop guessing who did it! James at times was cringeworthy and at other times so real.

Two points of view.
Even though I picked who did it early on, I still enjoyed this book immensely. I like the style of telling the same story from two points of view. I am now moving on to the next one

The story was a winner
This is not normally a book I would have enjoyed. The characters not particularly appealing initially. However it got me in . I couldn’t wait for the next day so I could keep listening. Slightly predictable but still a great story that touched me and allowed the themes to pe state my thinking personally. It was a blend of fiction and reality that enhanced the story and gives me hope for human infallibility’ and a future beyond traumatic events

Fantastic!
This story was so easy to settle into. the writing didn't drag out and narration was extremely well done. The characters all seem so realistic. A great thriller.

Fantastic!
Honestly my favorite author!
Another brilliant book in this fantastic series! So interesting and well written, I did guess the culprit early on but enjoyed the story so much that it didn’t matter, can’t wait for the next in the series!
