About this listen

From the critically-acclaimed author of PRINCE OF FOOLS comes the second volume of the brilliant new epic fantasy series, THE RED QUEEN’S WAR.

'If you like dark you will love Mark Lawrence. And when the light breaks through and it all makes sense, the contrast is gorgeous' ROBIN HOBB

The Red Queen has set her players on the board…

Winter is keeping Prince Jalan Kendeth far from the longed-for luxuries of his southern palace. And although the North may be home to his companion, the warrior Snorri ver Snagason, he is just as eager to leave.

For the Viking is ready to challenge all of Hel to bring his wife and children back into the living world. He has Loki’s key – now all he needs is to find the door.

As all wait for the ice to unlock its jaws, the Dead King plots to claim what was so nearly his – the key into the world – so that the dead can rise and rule.

Superb

I love Mark Lawrence's writing. Highly imaginative & a world he has created that is believable. A complex story that is entertaining and keeps you guessing. If you're sick of waiting for the Winds of Winter to come out, start with Prince of Thorns, work your way through that awesome trilogy & then dive into this trilogy. Can't wait to read the final instalment.
Thank you Mark, excellent as always and perfectly presented by the narrator. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Boring- I'm not interested anymore

This was nothing like Book 1 which I found okay - this was boring! Basically, Book 1 is going North beset by danger - and this is going south beset by tomfoolery and dreams of the hero's past so he can figure out who the villain is. Lost me. Not reading any further with this series which is a shame because there was potential.

Drags it's feet like a kid who doesn't want to go to schoot

A big fan of the Broken Empire trilogy, The Liar's Key unfortunately just drags itself along as self indulgently as its main character. I love the world that these books are set in and there's some great ideas scattered amongst the pages, but there's no tempo or pace to the whole thing. I hope the final book in the trilogy makes up for it, because unfortunately book 2 is an absolute stinker.
