Publisher's Summary
Stephen Fry's breathtakingly outrageous debut novel, by turns eccentric, shocking, brilliantly comic and achingly romantic. Adrian Healey is magnificently unprepared for the long littleness of life; unprepared too for the afternoon in Salzburg when he will witness the savage murder of a Hungarian violinist; unprepared to learn about the Mendax device; unprepared for more murders and wholly unprepared for the truth.

A wonderfully funny complex story
It’s not often I find a story that I have to listen to. Beautifully constructed story, I really enjoyed the changing time frame. V well read as always by Mr Fry

Delicious!
Thoroughly enjoyable. I found Prof. Trefusis an endearing character and even the Liar so. Laughed out loud a lot listening to this. Rich in wit and truths and naughtiness. Clever wordplay and beautifully narrated.

I lived every moment of this audiobook. I was not sure how it would play out. Fabulous plot reveal at the end. Highly recommended!

Horrible story
Love Stephen Fry, love his books, love his narration but hated this story. Suspect it’s semi-autobiographical in which case I feel very sorry for him and his mental health struggles and even more impressed by how he’s been able to pull himself through it
