About this listen

Introducing Geralt the Witcher - revered and hated - who holds the line against the monsters plaguing humanity in the best-selling series that inspired the Witcher video games and a major Netflix show.

Geralt of Rivia is a Witcher, a man whose magic powers and lifelong training have made him a brilliant fighter and a merciless assassin.

Yet he is no ordinary killer: he hunts the vile fiends that ravage the land and attack the innocent.

But not everything monstrous-looking is evil; not everything fair is good...and in every fairy tale there is a grain of truth.

Andrzej Sapkowski, winner of the World Fantasy Lifetime Achievement award, started an international phenomenon with his Witcher series. The Last Wish is the perfect introduction to this one-of-a-kind fantasy world.

Editorial reviews

Geralt of Rivea roams a world of wretched monsters and ruthless royalty. His combat abilities, combined with his wit and magic abilities, make him a much sought-after assassin. But when faced with moral quandaries and romantic endeavours, Geralt is challenged in a way that cannot be solved by his skill with a sword.

The Witcher Saga has served as the source material for a wealth of adaptations, including a much adored video game franchise and a Netflix series. Whether you’re already a fan or are looking for your next fantasy obsession, The Last Wish is a perfect place to start. Rich with details and vivid world-building, the audio edition is made even more exciting by the rich, deep tones of narrator Peter Kenny.

Unique yet familiar

Sapkowski clearly draws from folktales in his works, however he puts such a refreshing spin on them that you hardly notice.
Kenny delivers a great performance but bear in mind his mispronunciation of Dandelion can be a little bit annoying.

Lilac and Gooseberries

Great story and insight into the Games but had issues with the Narrator. The book was well delivered but for some reason found myself having to turn up the volume much more then other books and had to really concentrate to understand, many times had to rewind and listen again.

Nothing like Henry Cavill

I didn’t like the accent of the witcher, he sounded old, Instead of like a strapping action hero, and nothing like Henry Cavill

A pleasure to listen too

Read extremely well, the speaker is a pleasure to listen to. You can easily tell the different characters as they feature.

The story itself is complex and does jump about somewhat but, nevertheless is enjoyable and one I feel deserves listening to more than once. It is one that you will learn more and increase your understanding as you given it a second or third play. However, the story is very descriptive allowing you to visualise what is being described.

Intriguing Stories - First Audio Book

This was my first audio book. The narration by Peter Kenny was outstanding. As for the book itself, I found the jumping timelines of the chapters a little confusing, especially being in audio book form. Remembering character names and who they were was tricky too, as with a hard copy I would just flick back a few pages and remind myself. The short stories themselves where however intriguing and I enjoyed getting a further insight into the background of Geralt (having previously player The Witcher 3 videogame).

Subtle and Masterful

An expertly crafted adventure novel that also has strong character development - the moral and emotional contradictions faced by the main character reflect the harshness of reality in the most captivating and accurate way. A must read.

Performance was outstanding

A big fan of the game series and the recognizable characters are here. I found it hard to follow sometimes but the stories were mostly very good.

Great book

Awesome E-book, would be way better if voiced by C.Dance or H. Cavil to make it sound more authentic
