Publisher's Summary

From the bestselling author of the Charlie Parker mystery series - 'the finest crime series currently in existence' (Independent) - comes a new book for fans of THE BOOK OF LOST THINGS.

Twice upon a time - for that is how some stories should continue...

Phoebe, an eight-year-old girl, lies comatose following a car accident. She is a body without a spirit, a stolen child. Ceres, her mother, can only sit by her bedside and read aloud to Phoebe the fairy stories she loves in the hope they might summon her back to this world.

But it is hard to keep faith, so very hard.

Now an old house on the hospital grounds, a property connected to a book written by a vanished author, is calling to Ceres. Something wants her to enter, and to journey - to a land coloured by the memories of Ceres's childhood, and the folklore beloved of her father, to a land of witches and dryads, giants and mandrakes; to a land where old enemies are watching, and waiting.

To the Land of Lost Things.

For anyone who loved THE BOOK OF LOST THINGS and for all listeners who enjoy dark, beautifully crafted fables that explore the heart of the human condition: love, loyalty and sacrifice.

Immaculately written

If you enjoyed the previous book then you’ll really love this one. I couldn’t stop listening and finished it in four sittings. Building on David’s story without him being the focal point works perfectly with the addition of a reluctant heroine, breathing new life into the world created in the previous book. Loved it!

Land of lost things

Beautiful tale narrated perfectly. Another win for Mr Connolly, he is such an amazing author. I truly felt that I was in the Land of lost things and didn’t want to return when the tale ended.

Warm hearted fairy tale, beautifully read.

If you want a fairy tale to warm you, this is perfect.
This narration is beautiful in pace and tone.

(The only way to improve it might be to have a loved adult read the book to you as a child).
