About this listen

The eighth novel of the internationally acclaimed Chaos Seeds saga.

A mesmerizing tale reminiscent of the brutality of Goblin Slayer and the majesty of Game of Thrones.

Audible's Customer Favorite of the Year!

Number one audiobook 2017.

Welcome my friends!

Welcome...to “The Land"!

The battle of the dead was won, but at a great cost. Sion, leader of the Mist Village, was left with only pain and regret as Richter was claimed by the abyss.

What no one but the abandoned chaos seed knows is that he narrowly avoided the curse of the lich Singh, a curse that still hangs above his head. Now, surrounded by miles of darkness and tons of crushing rock, Richter has to find his way back into the light.

The only problem is that this monster of a man is being pursued by monsters, a demon, and his own foolish choices. Faced with all the dangers of the deep dark, what will Richter say when the buried horrors of The Land come a calling and asked if he's paid his dues?

Well he'll look right back, stare that horror in the eye, and say, "Yes sir, the check is in the mail!"

Welcome back my friends! Welcome back...to The Land!

Good but not as great

Great performance, not much progression in story as last time. Nick was great in his performance

Good as usual

Certainly an entertaining listen as always. We have been spoilt with an expansive land and an array of characters that we come to expect. This instalment is focused more on Rikter, which is far from a bad thing. Left me wanting more as usual, and over 16 hours it’s not a short book even though it felt like it. Good work Aleron and thanks

great book

This one seemed really short after the last but that probably speaks more to how much I enjoy the story. Wish he wouldn't use prodigious so much though.

Wanted a bit more

Nick Podehl was great as he usual is but this was a tedious listen overall. Some cool new stuff but there was a lot of repetitious monologue about the same thing over and over. Would have liked more but it's a sub par set up for another book.

skip it and wait for the next

long time fan here, loved the first books

this was multiple hours of disappointment and apparently a fair amount of time dedicated to poop for some unknown reason.

Nick did a great job yet again however many others have already mentioned that this one is worth skipping due to the lack of ... Well anything actually happening but I wanted to give it a shot and keep my good memories of the land continuing but now instead I'm trying to see how many wines it takes to forget the last day or so and remember that predators is the latest book.

Just as good

It has a heavy focus on survival and also on dealing with the notifications from the battle against singh, which is understandable given the epic battle they just had.

A lot of people are saying it's half a book, that's straight nonsense though, it's the second longest in the series and has just as much development and character as the others. It just has a hard time because book 7 was an absolute monster of a book compared to the rest of the series, more than double the length of any other book.

So yeah, it feels shorter at first but it's just as big and good as your usual book for the land.

16 hours or prompts

I love the series but this whole book felt like it was one prompt after another and at the end nothing had happened except a ton of leveling, there seemed like there was no story progression other than the leveling.
Took a step, got stronger, took another, got stronger, realised the power was in him the whole time......got stronger.
