About this listen
Step into the glittering world of Regency and prepare to have your hearts warmed by Julia Quinn, Eloisa James and Connie Brockway....
During their annual Christmas pilgrimage to Scotland to visit their aged uncle in his decrepit castle, the Comte de Rocheforte and his cousin, the Earl of Oakley, are presented with unique gifts: their uncle has raided an English lord's Christmas party and kidnapped four lovely would-be brides for his heirs to choose from...as well as one very angry duke, Lord Bretton.
As snow isolates the castle, and as hours grow into days, the most honourable intentions give away to temptations as surprising as they are irresistible.

Narrator was hard to listen to
Great story, as always when Julia Quinn writes, but I struggled with the voices of the narrator

Narration was painful
I struggled to listen to this book as I found the narration so forced. Story line was a little far fetched but enjoyable

Great Story
I loved the story but sometimes found it hard to listen to the narrator. Julia Quinn normally has a different narrator whom i like better.

shame about the narrator
A fun story, not as good as the first book.
The narrator's Scottish accent made my ears bleed!

Entertaining story - Mediocre narration
As with The Lady Most Likely, you will have to suspend your modern day rational thinking about how relationships develop into marriage and even moreso given the circumstance of how the characters come together in this one, however I guess with any such novels of this period genre it's a must.
That said, the writing styles of the contributing authors are complementary and make for seamless storytelling. It's nice to see the characters matched with partners best suited to their personalities.
I think the narration gets better the further into the story one listens. Admittedly, chapter 1 was sonewhat grating so i am glad i persisted beyond and gave it a chance. The narrator does a ripper of a rough & gruff male Scotish accent which I didn't know whether to love or hate - but she did reflect the uncle's personality perfectly. I had to tweak the speed of the narration at times to make it less distracting.
NB: The narration in the sample is from ch1 and the worst of it, so if you're willing to chance it, I do recommend this light fun story!

Love the narrator and variety of rich accents. Fabulous read.
I absolutely loved it. Engaging characters, wonderful setting and story line, full of romance. I love the accents and will look for this narrator in other books. Really enjoyed the story, and the come alive characters. Learning new things about historical Scotland’s way of life. One of my favourite books.

Great once you get into it
I agree with the other reviewers re the narrator is a little hard for the first little while but once I was into the second chapter it seemed to be a lot better. The stories were lovely and the book was very enjoyable

Wrong Narrator for the Job
I couldn't make it through the prologue. The narrator is not right for this story, Unfortunately it sounds like she is the voice over artist for a British masterchef.
