About this listen
At first glance, Anne de Bourgh doesn’t seem a promising heroine. But beneath that quiet exterior, there’s a lively mind at work, imagining how one day she will escape her poor health and her mother’s domination to find love and a life worth living.
Now Anne finally gets the chance to speak her mind. But Lady Catherine demands equal time. Even Charlotte Collins and Mrs. Jenkinson get into the act.
Chapter by chapter, these ladies of Rosings Park take turns telling the tale from the moment Elizabeth Bennet sets foot in Hunsford, changing everything. Is Anne heartbroken or relieved to discover Mr. Darcy will never marry her? As an heiress, even a sickly one, she must have other suitors. Does Lady Catherine gracefully accept the defeat of her original plan or keep conniving? Will Anne’s health ever improve? And what really happened to her father?
Complete in itself, this work expands The Darcys of Pemberley series laterally, beginning during the timeline of Pride and Prejudice and carrying beyond to reveal the rest of Anne’s story.
"When a young lady is to be a heroine, the perverseness of forty surrounding families cannot prevent her. Something must and will happen to throw a hero in her way." - Jane Austen, Northanger Abbey

this story was absolutely capital!
my one regret is that I know no.one else who has read it so I cannot gossip with them about it. for maximum surprises... I suggest one reads the darcys of pemberly first. but it's absolutely not necessary.

Rivetting & engaging
Having read 2 other books by Shannon Winslow, which left me feeling rather sad & incomplete, I decided to try again and read another of her books. How glad I am that I chose this one.
The narrator is AMAZING. Bravo! Top marks for everything! Her voice changes were on point. Her pitch was always perfect.
As with all books I read, I expect to be taken from reality and thrown into some other society, to forget my real life and just feel good. The story itself is a work of art. Shannons series of books all tie in together and this one is no exception. You get the story from different angles, and this is just what I want. Each chapter is the view of whats going on, from another character in the book. I really enjoy this style of writing.
Beautifully written, engaging drama, suspense, hope & a chance to relate to the characters. Imagining a life of splendor, we tend to believe that people like the rich heriess Ann, has no problems and is perfect, but this is not so. She struggles in many ways like the rest of us do and the story explains it perfectly. I highly recommend you read this book, its a lovely story with perfect narration and it will leave you feeling good.

Loved it
So nice to see how the stories develop from another’s view point. I loved that Anne became strong and happy.
The audible narration was superb. Accents, pitch and characters just right.

tolerable I suppose
I like the story. I feel the characters are developed in keeping with the original story.
I didn't like the political ideals introduced at the end. I ask myself 'is this from modern times and is it in keeping with the thinking in the time the novel is set'?
overall I enjoy the escapism of this type of story.
