A young man in his teens is transported from our world to a magical realm that contains seven levels of reality. Gene Wolfe is subtle but this exciting story is more straightforward than most

Well, at least on the second reading, a bit of thought, and a bit of fun digging into the various mythologies of Northern Europe.

And if one is after an unequivacle depiction of “honour, come what may” and fairness observed in ever little act, Sir Able of the High Heart and (most) of his companions struggle minute by minute with with these decisions, and their choices take them to worlds they never expect.
