About this listen

Who will be next? When the body of a local talent show winner is discovered on the eve of headlining Kilwinnoch’s annual Civic Week celebrations, it throws the festivities into chaos, and threatens to tear the close-knit community apart.

For DCI Bone, the death is personal. Days earlier, he’d received a call from the victim, warning that she was about to be killed. He’d dismissed it as a hoax. With threats of more to come, a town on edge, and a ruthless killer evading detection with ease, Bone knows from hard-worn experience that, in a case like this, one kill is never enough.

Perfect for fans of Ian Rankin, J.D. Kirk, Val McDermid and Stuart MacBride.

Loving this series

Great storyline and it's good to watch Bone's character evolve. Great narration too. I have a long commute to work and audible takes me there and back. I love Scottish crime, reminds me of home (I'm in Australia). I'm late with the review but I'm looking forward to more from TG Reid.

Nit the best if the series

I really enjoyed the first books of this series finding them well constructed and interesting. This one however, didn’t quite work for me. I find the relationship between Alice and Bone just annoys me. Her character has little to recommend her and she comes across and a bit of a wet nag. I feel Bone could do much better.
The murder was interesting enough but not as taut as in the past. Narration as always was great.

Excellent story

Really good engaging story. Brilliant narrator. The story of DI Bone continues, his PTSD seems to be coming under control, his family life is improving. I love the series.
