About this listen
‘Janice is a wonderful woman whose authenticity pulls you along…the breadth and originality of supporting characters makes this debut an immersive delight’ Dorset Magazine
‘A treasure of a book. Beautiful, emotional and heartfelt with a cornucopia of characters you’ll love spending time with’ Phaedra Patrick, author of The Library of Lost and Found
She can’t recall what started her collection. Maybe it was in a fragment of conversation overheard as she cleaned a sink? Before long (as she dusted a sitting room or defrosted a fridge) she noticed people were telling her their stories. Perhaps they always had done, but now it is different, now the stories are reaching out to her and she gathers them to her…
When Janice starts cleaning for Mrs B – a shrewd and tricksy woman in her nineties – she meets someone who wants to hear her story. But Janice is clear: she is the keeper of stories, she doesn’t have a story to tell. At least, not one she can share.
Mrs B is no fool and knows there is more to Janice than meets the eye. What is she hiding? After all, doesn’t everyone have a story to tell?
‘Oh my giddy aunt what an amazing book…absolutely adored it from start to finish’ Jeannie
‘Not what I was expecting at all…loved the way it ended’ Julie
‘An absolutely wonderful, unputdownable book full of delightful characters’ Sue

A wonderful story
This is a wonderful book full of humour and pathos with all too human characters. Original with a touch of quirkiness, I found myself invested in the story. Excellent narration as well. Highly recommended.

Simply surprising!
I needed to read this twice because it was so rich, and I missed bits along the way.
I love the complex observation of various types of humans and dare I say dogs. It was so rich, in observations of human nature, fears, guilt, lack of self-esteem, and other people who were caustic and nasty with or without reason, I love the way it was enmeshed together, Parts of it, so very sad and others alarming or very humorous . Such a good storyteller of stories, and so well narrated. I recommend this to all those who love to observe human nature.. I will read it again eventually five stars plus.

Affirms to being kind to those important to you
I absolutely adored this book! The characters drew you into their world, especially Janice, the kind hearted "story keeper". You soon felt you knew them and oddly that it was life friends you were catching up with and hearing about their day. I love stories that are a little bit different and manage to gradually draw you with the story unravelling slowly, especially when they are scenarios that realistically happen in the world. A story about karma, friendship no matter the age, the rewards of hardwork and a loving heart. It reaffirms that in life being a good person is always the best answer.

The terrible accents!!!
Quite bland. Nothing really happened until the last chapter. Not bad to listen to if you don’t want to concentrate
