About this listen

First published in 1897, The Invisible Man is the third volume in a chronological H.G. Wells series, brought to you by Spoken Realms and Stuart Gauffi. Perhaps Wells' most well-known story, The Invisible Man is a marvel of early science fiction. Its descriptions of the principles of physics that led to the discovery of human invisibility hold up even today, well over a century after it was written. Considering the technology of the day included only the most rudimentary of automobiles, this is a remarkable achievement.

From the moment a stranger shows up at a pub in the little village of Iping, the locals are aware something is afoot. He is like no other guest they've ever encountered, and theories as to the reasons for his strange head-to-toe covering are fuel for the gossip factory. Little do any of them realize the truth of the situation and the consequences that will befall their quiet part of England at the hands of the Invisible Man.
