About this listen

The Initiates of the Flame

By Manly P. Hall

Narrated by Denis Daly

Manly Palmer Hall was a lecturer and author, whose particular interest was in arcane spirituality and esoteric religious traditions. He was associated with a number of universalist religious groups, like the Rosicrucians, and, in later life, the Freemasons.

The Initiates of the Flame, first published in 1922, was the first of over a hundred books by Hall, and was dedicated to "the One Thousand Students of the Classes of 1922." Hall's main thesis is that all men can achieve spiritual perfection and that the practice of genuine religion will lead to universal salvation. Many artifacts of historical significance are discussed in the text, including alchemy, the Holy Grail, the Knights of the Round Table, the Ark of the Covenant, and the Pyramids.
