NOW A MAJOR FILM STARRING ANNE HATHAWAY AND NICHOLAS GALITZINE ON PRIME VIDEO

THE SCORCHING HOT LOVE AFFAIR ABOUT THE MAN THAT EVERYONE IS TALKING ABOUT . . .

EVERYONE IN THE WORLD KNOWS HIS NAME. BUT IT'S YOU HE WANTS.

To the media, Hayes Campbell is the star of a record-breaking British boyband.

To his fans, he's the naughty-but-nice front man - whose dimples and outlandish dress sense drive them crazy.

To Solène Marchand, he's just the pretty face that's plastered over every girl's bedroom wall.

Until a chance meeting throws them together . . .

The attraction is instant. The chemistry is electric. The affair is Solène's secret.

But how long can it stay that way?

Hot Breath Stealing Romance

Warning Spoilers ahead…
Once i started this and listened to the rich hypnotic narrative by the author herself I was hooked. She does such a wonderful job of voicing the characters making it all the more real.
It all hit a little close to home, relationship with a younger British accented enigmatic male, seductive, addictive… I understand Solene’s desire, her doubts and fears.
She annoyed me towards the end and I write this before finishing because I already know… I know she will break his heart. He gave her his all and she will just let the world and everyone else decide for her that it’s not worth fighting for… I can’t… I just don’t want to see Hayes and his heart shattered, he deserves more. This book is light and not, beautiful and silly and I don’t care, I desperately need a sequel and Hayes and Solene to get the ending they deserve (yes i finished it and I cried and was gutted).

Over hyped

I was expecting a lot more. I couldn’t get past the British accent. Sounded more South African.

How did I not know about this book?

Saw the movie and then read the book.
The author is brilliant. Her story and her sensual narration mesmerised.
I want to hear this again.
The characters were so lovingly written I feel I knew them intimately and now I miss them desperately.
I loved the story and lived vicariously through Solene. Didn’t we all have these dreams as teenagers, where a rock star would spot us in the crowd and fall helplessly in love with us? And for Solene it amazingly comes true albeit decades later.
I didn’t buy the ending. I feel it wouldn’t happen that way and so I need a sequel. The movie ending was dubious too and the movie itself disappointingly lets the source material down big time.

Finished and then had to start it all over again

Hayes and Solene are such compelling characters, and their story is told with a lot of nuance and compassion (for both of them). Love love love this book.

Absolutely loved it!

This is my 50th Audible book but the first one (since the Twilight books) I’ll re-read, Loved the narration, loved her voice and accents and the characters. Please make a sequel!

Average

Interesting themes explored- ageing through a woman’s lens, youth, gender roles, motherhood, fame and societal pressures. Really found it hard to find the narrator’s voice engaging, particularly when they were switching between characters and attempting to play a young, posh British male accent. I did keep at it though, and I think it improved and the ending was thought provoking.

Addictive, brilliant, unique.

I listened to this book, and as soon as it finished I listened again. Robin’s performance of her own writing is without mistake perfect. The accents, her passion, the way she heard it being read as she wrote it is obvious in her narration. The novel itself is witty, worldly and interesting. The film adaption already looks ti be poor, Solene in the book woulf never go to Coachellq. Anyhow, a must read/listen. A unique romance, and the relationship a mother shares with her daughter, and the things we sacrifice as mothers.

Entertaining

Entertaining book however the performance too away from it. Her narration voice was monotonous and dull.

A Sequel is Required!

I haven’t watched the movie. Instead I took the advice of author Sophia Money-Coutts and listened to the book. Such a good holiday read but boy it needs a sequel. I’m actually surprised a publishing company took this story on without a chaser book.

Spoiler Alert…discussion of the ending

I actually feel the story is let down a bit by the ending…not the breakup but the ending. There is more story to tell and if only the author had made Solene 5 years younger there would have been room to explore more story at a later date with a more fairytale ending.

I also don’t think Issy would have really reacted so badly. Sure there was some teasing but once she got over the anger and the shock of her Mum hooking up with her singing idol what teenage girl wouldn’t want to be in that world and so close to a boy band??

The break up should have been mostly about the age differences and stage of life instead of a teenage daughter.

Please write another dear author!!

Better than the movie

Narration was well paced and emotive and made the story so much deeper than your classic fanfic. Story in this gives so much more than the film and I enjoyed the film so you are in for a good read. I cried and could not stop listening to this. It made for a really enjoyable read.
