About this listen

“You must be our new neighbors!” Mrs. Lowell gushes and waves across the picket fence. I clutch my daughter’s hand and smile back, but the second Mrs. Lowell sees my husband a strange expression crosses her face. In that moment I make a promise. We finally have a family home. My past is far, far behind us. And I’ll do anything to keep it that way…

I used to clean other people’s houses—now, I can’t believe this home is actually mine. The charming kitchen, the quiet cul-de-sac, the huge yard where my kids can play. My husband and I saved for years to give our children the life they deserve.

Even though I’m wary of our new neighbor Mrs. Lowell, when she invites us over for dinner it’s our chance to make friends. Her maid opens the door wearing a white apron, her hair in a tight bun. I know exactly what it’s like to be in her shoes. But her cold stare gives me chills…

The Lowells’ maid isn’t the only strange thing on our street. I’m sure I see a shadowy figure watching us. My husband leaves the house late at night. And when I meet a woman who lives across the way, her words chill me to the bone: Be careful of your neighbors.

Did I make a terrible mistake moving my family here?

I thought I’d left my darkest secrets behind. But could this quiet suburban street be the most dangerous place of all?

From New York Times, USA Today and Wall Street Journal bestselling author Freida McFadden comes the next installment of the unbelievably twisty, tension-packed and globally bestselling Housemaid series. This book can be enjoyed as a standalone listen: and once you start, it will have you up all night until the final explosive twist.

1st book is the best

I loved the narration but the story didn't grab me like the first book in the series.

So good

Another great read, loved the housemaid series! I hope there is another one to follow but I will happily go on to listen to the rest of her books

Not as good as last two but still some good twists

I felt like it took awhile to really get going and not as good as last two. Good twists at the end like the others though

Good in the last quarter!

Definitely my least favourite in the trilogy! An ok read but nothing amazing, really wish the start hadn’t been so boring

Loved the story and character’s

Millie’s story down the track from the last novel was great. Lots of twists and turns but good ones. Couldn’t stop listening.

Very long winded! Not much happened till the last quarter

The book starts with Millie in her 40s with her husband, Enzo, and their 2 kids. The narrator was fantastic, but unlike the other two books in the series I found it hard to persevere through. The book could’ve easily been edited to 6 hours. Nothing much happened in the first half of the book and it didn’t feel like the plot twists at the end had been properly set up. Slight spoiler alert but Jonathan’s character wasn’t developed at the start and then suddenly he’s crucial to the story? Would have been far more entertaining if Ada’s story started the 2nd half of the book, like the first two books in the series. But I loved the narration and it does kind of close Millie’s story nicely

Same same but different

The story might be different but the format is the same…

It’s a simple book that doesn’t need to be anything more than it is.
