Publisher's Summary
Winner of the National Book Award and now considered a classic, The House of Morgan is the most ambitious history ever written about an American banking dynasty. Acclaimed by the Wall Street Journal as "brilliantly researched and written", the book tells the rich, panoramic story of four generations of Morgans and the powerful, secretive firms they spawned. It is the definitive account of the rise of the modern financial world. A gripping history of banking and the booms and busts that shaped the world on both sides of the Atlantic, The House of Morgan traces the trajectory of the J. P.Morgan empire from its obscure beginnings in Victorian London to the crash of 1987. Ron Chernow paints a fascinating portrait of the private saga of the Morgans and the rarefied world of the American and British elite in which they moved. Based on extensive interviews and access to the family and business archives, The House of Morgan is an investigative masterpiece, a compelling account of a remarkable institution and the men who ran it, and an essential book for understanding the money and power behind the major historical events of the last 150 years.

Wickedly good listen :-)
Ron Chernow reminds us of one very valid point in his
brilliant piece of literature.
When the company of JP Morgan’s ignored the original’s
JP Morgan’s business acumen and took personal character
out of it’s lending criterion, the result became obtaining
profit for personal greed.
On the ‘listen again’ Audible library shelf,
thank you Ron Chernow :-)

Interesting details
Very much enjoyed the remarkable details that made up so much of the history in this book.
The family and business stories made a good audible book. It seems a lot of effort went into this book.

Solid history of a institution
This was the exact type of book I hoped for, something that explained in detail the history for the Morgan banks with many sub stories that highlight everyday life, politics and business in each era.

A Quality Book
A deep, thorough and engaging history of JP Morgan and it's progeny.
Could do with an update to cover the last few decades, but the core of the book is definitely found in the comprehensive early story of JP Morgan, followed by his son.

Amazing
Everyone should hear this amazing story. Well written and well read. More then a book on finance and banking, a recount of some of the major events of the last 150 + years.

A rich dive behind the curtain of one of finance's greatest families
Perfectly narrated, ~36 hours seems to have flown by. A fascinating detailed & dignified walk through one of the richest family histories in finance.
