About this listen
The explosive new book from Britain’s leading investigative biographer, Tom Bower
As one of the most famous and influential couples in the world, David and Victoria Beckham have attained iconic status. The ultimate power couple have together built a multi-billion-dollar global brand. For decades, adoring fans have been captivated by the glamorous world they have created, while their unrivalled fusion of showbiz, fashion, football and celebrity has been cultivated alongside the image of a strong marriage.
When the much-trailed Netflix documentary Beckham aired in 2023, viewers were offered an even more intimate insight into their private lives. Produced by the Beckhams themselves, the series raised many questions, not only about their success and personal relationship, but also about the ruthlessly successful management of their image in the media. Are their lives really as perfect as the Beckhams would like the world to believe?
Through extensive research, expert sourcing and interviews with insiders, Britain’s most celebrated investigative biographer, Tom Bower, has unearthed a succession of revelations that give surprising insight into the reality of ‘Brand Beckham’. Exploring the couple’s relationship, and the truth about their football and fashion careers, their finances and their new life in Miami, The House of Beckham unravels the extraordinary reality of the business-savvy cultural icons to tell an engrossing, often astonishing story of money, sex and power.

Utterly venal people
Well written, truly awful people, with much more money than they deserve. The book is likely to induce nausea.

Such a basic couple parading as the best
I really enjoyed this. Not at all surprised by anything about them. Interesting to hear about their continued tax affairs.

Don’t listen if you don’t want to know who they really are!
We discover they’re both filled to the brim full of Sex, Lies and PR BS! Both their images continually media manipulated by rolling from one lie to the next.

This Just Felt Nasty
I returned this book, unfinished (made it about 1/3 through). I have listened to others by Tom Bower and quite enjoyed them but to me this felt vindictive. We all know the Beckhams are all about image and they’ve had their spin doctors working overtime at various periods of their lives but there was something ugly about where this book was heading and I didn’t want to follow. Others may love it but I was disappointed.

A mean spirited biography
It felt totally full of unnecessary, unsubstantiated and sensationalist gossip and was actually very boring. I’m not particularly a fan of the Beckhams but I felt tainted simply by reading this book. As the previous reviewer has said, we all know about the Beckhams’ branding. I expected more from Tom Bower and was truly disappointed.

Very One Sided
Clearly written by a biased person who does not like the Beckhams. The whole family was made to sound stupid, particularly when the narrator mimicked their voice’s. All the info about the finances was boring and probably what a lot of people with money are advised to do by their accountants. An unkind book in general.

Loved this book
So well written. I finished listening in one day - couldn't put it down! I really didn't know much about the Beckhams, so very entertaining and interesting. I don't necessarily agree with their values, however, I had to admire how they never give up on their dreams, no matter what people might say. Perseverance seems to be their strongest characteristic and I can't argue with that!

Heavily padded and repetitive
Heavy on accountancy and tax details, all of which are poorly explained, and just as dull and impenetrable as you’d imagine. Every chapter is a variation on “the Beckhams are publicity hungry, fake and rich”. Empty of much detail, and just plain nasty. Leaves a bad taste in your mouth after reading. The best part of the book is when it finally finishes.
