About this listen
Gary Karkofsky, a.k.a. Merciless: The Supervillain Without MercyTM, has decided to give up supervillainy and embrace the path of righteousness. Unfortunately, he's terrible at it, and no one wants him to be their superheroic protector. That all changes when a talking raven arrives with the perfect quest to make his mark: Rescue the president's daughter from Dracula.
Unfortunately, Gary is being led into a trap. The location of Dracula's castle is in Satan Swamp, which is where Gary suffered one of the few defeats of his life. There's also a camp full of superpowered children, the return of alternate reality allies, a pair of psycho killers in love, and the return of an old enemy.
Enjoy the latest installment of the Supervillainy saga!

A fantastic homage to 80s horror!
This was a standout story in the Garyverse (my word)! It Follows Gary trying vainly to follow the straight and narrow, while taking down Dracula.
As usual, the Usual Suspects get roped in, as do a few notable characters from Phipps' other books. Especially The Accountant, a personal favorite character of mine from Phipps' other series, Psycho Killers in Love. That was a really great cameo for me.
The horror tropes were obviously written by someone with a love of 80s horror, while still being surprising and exciting, even if Gary doesn't always win.
If you love those sorts of horror stories, you'll treasure this one as a self referential, bloody cream of the crop!
Kafer's narration was on point, as usual, too.
