About this listen
Carrot has moved into the Wonder Museum—an eclectic collection of taxidermy, shrunken heads, and Mystery Junk owned by her Uncle Earl. For Carrot, it's not creepy at all: she grew up with it. What's creepy is the corridor behind one of the museum walls. There's just no space for a corridor there—or the concrete bunker, or the strange islands beyond the bunker’s doors, or the unseen things in the willow trees. Carrot has stumbled into a horrifying world, and They are watching her. Strewn among the islands are the remains of Their meals—and Their experiments. And even if she manages to make it home, she can't stop calling Them after her…

Weird but so good!
I loved this! It was creepy and unsettling, but not super scary. Great characters, heartwarming relationships, unique setting. The narration was also really good. Highly recommend!

Whilst I didn’t find the story as unsettling or scary as I hoped it was a truly unique plot Very creative and I may never look at taxidermy the same again

Very Good Story
Not super scary, but is a brilliant horror story that will keep you listening all the way through. You probably won't look at willow trees the same way again.

Liked the book. The reader was hilarious and yet the book did not lose it’s creepiness. Enjoyed it.

Finished in two days
Could not put this book down, such a amazingly told story! A must read. T. Kingfisher's "The Hollows" is a riveting journey that marries the mundane with the macabre, crafting a tale that's as enchanting as it is unsettling. Kingfisher, with a masterful grip on the gothic, invites us into a world where the lines between reality and the supernatural blur, making you question every shadow and whisper in the night. The narrative, rich with dark humor and poignant observations on human nature, ensnares you, leading down a path strewn with the bizarre and the grotesque, yet somehow, incredibly human at its core. The characters, deeply fleshed out and achingly real, become companions you root for, their fears and hopes mirroring our own. "The Hollows" doesn't just haunt you; it bewitches, urging a closer look at the world around and within us. A must-read for those who revel in stories that linger, whispering to us long after the last page is turned.

Unearthed Horrors from a different earth
T. Kingfisher's "Through the Hollow Places" is a chilling sci-fi horror where a hidden doorway in a quirky museum leads Kara to a terrifying alternate dimension. The story thrives on its witty dialogue and suspense, though pacing can be uneven.
While Kara's plight is intriguing, my favorite character was Simon. His humour and persistent loyalty made their fight for survival all the more compelling.
If you crave a unique blend of thrills and chills with a touch of the weird, this is for you.
