A mysterious object threatens to destroy our solar system. The survival of humankind is at risk, but nobody takes the warning of young astrophysicist Maribel Pedreira seriously. At the same time, an exiled crew of outcasts mines for rare minerals on a lone asteroid.
When other scientists finally acknowledge Pedreira's alarming discovery, it becomes clear that these outcasts are the only ones who may be able to save our world, knowing that the Hole hurtles inexorably toward the sun.

Simplistic story, with no real science
the narrator did a reasonable job, but the story was very weak.
not really a proper science fiction story, with a very disappointing and anticlimactic ending

this one really grew on me
It started slow but really grew on me. I learned more about black holes than mainstream non- fiction ever conveyed.

Give it a go
I’m a hard sci fi Baxter fan, and gave this morris fella a go. It was worth it and now onto book 2

Good story Great narrator

Dry humoured physics
A good read full of humour and serious physics. I’m not sure if all the ideas have a factual background but it adds to the story as a whole and is very entertaining

Lazy, good idea but lazy
Kinda tired of the 'idiosyncratic AI discovers love and sacrifices (usually) himself to save human(ity)' trope, it's lazy and a Mcguffin.
