One of my favourite books
I have read and reread this book many times. Listening to this book has added another dimension to it and made really come alive. I will definitely be listening to it again. Beautifully narrated.

All Over the Board
The history was richly detailed and interesting, but the story wasn't a good fit for any particular category, not a mystery, not horror, not suspense. The book is many things, but none of them are great.

brilliantly researched - terrific historical fiction
i cannot understand how anyone could accuse this book / audio book of being dull! i consumed it within 3 days and made excuses to give me time to listen because i was so captured. the amount of research and careful thought that went into the unveiling of this fascinating narrative is extraordinary

Very enjoyable
This has been one of my favourite books for a long time. I must have read it at least 5 or 6 times. I really enjoyed this audio version and felt like I absorbed certain parts of the story more by listening. Great narration, I loved the two different voice actors.

I did enjoy this book. The narrators were fabulous.
It was a long, in depth book and having got to the end was disappointed with the ending. It was too simple.
