Publisher's Summary

In this steamy tale by USA Today bestselling author Meghan Quinn, an American searching for her purpose escapes to a Scottish town but finds more questions than answers when she meets a brooding yet handsome handyman.

Freshly fired from her third job in a row, Bonnie St. James has lost her way. So when she and her best friend stumble upon a “help wanted” post to run a coffee shop in the Scottish Highlands, they apply on a whim. Who knows? Maybe traveling to a new place is just what she needs to figure out her next move.

When the friends arrive in the tiny idyllic town of Corsekelly, they instantly fall for the gorgeous Highland landscape and friendly townspeople. But Bonnie finds a less-than-warm welcome in Rowan MacGregor, the rugged local handyman. Busy wrestling his own demons, Rowan’s in no mood to deal with the quirky American - even if she is a bonny lass.

As Bonnie and Rowan’s paths inevitably cross, insults - and sparks - fly. Can the pair build on their similarities to help each other find purpose and direction...and maybe romance too? Or will their passionate tempers fling them apart?

The Highland Fling

I struggled to finish this one. I just couldn't feel any chemistry between the main characters. Some of the dialogue seemed forced or was trying too hard to be funny. The female main character was a bit too quirky for me.

For Jamie Fraser fans

Meghan Quinn's humour shines through in The Highland Fling, which is told from both Bonnie and Rowan's perspectives. Bonnie was stubborn, feisty and totally hilarious. While she was sunshine, Rowan was her complete grumpy opposite. This pair started off as enemies, but after a bit of a slow burn, they soon became lovers. As you can imagine, their banter was amazing from beginning to end (as was their chemistry).

I also really liked Bonnie's relationship with Dakota. They're each other's "person" and while this book is a romantic comedy at heart, it did delve into heavier issues, like Dakota's toxic previous relationship and Rowan's relationship with his father.

Finally, I highly recommend listening to the audiobook if you also have a weakness for Scottish accents. The Scottish imagery throughout the book 100% made me want to book a flight and run away to Scotland immediately (maybe next year 😏).

Highland Fling

It’s been awhile since I have literally laughed out loud while reading/listening to a book.
Really enjoyed this book narrators did a great job in saying that Antony’s female voice wasn’t my favourite, made poor Bonny sound a little odd ( uptight, silly, annoying 😂) either way, I enjoyed it very much.

Such a great book but the narration is terrible!

I began this book by listening on Audible and the first couple of chapters with the female narrator were yolerable but not exactly gripping. The male narrator was cringe worthy and I struggled so hard to listen at all. I eventually Googled him to determine his actual accent, because it certainly isn't Scottish, which only made it harder to picture a sexy, young guy. I was about to give up because I wasn't getting into the story at all but I read reviews and saw that dislike of the male narrator was a common theme but the story was a good one.....so at chapter 10 I ditched Audible, went over to Kindle and devoured the rest of the book in a couple of short, pleasurable hours. The book is actually amazing considering the 'erotica chick-lit' genre but the author should seriously consider getting other actors to do a re-read for the Audible version.
