About this listen

'Penhallow is full of dogs, Polly. Look around and you'll see. We're everywhere. We always have been.'

Polly and Rex are delighted when the old toy dog stirs on the nursery shelf. But Skip wants to be left alone! Then Polly shows a new classmate around Penhallow and she seems strangely drawn to the little dog, too. Could she be the friend Skip needs?

Critic Reviews

'Narrator Emily Wheaton creates a youthful voice for Polly, who continues to befriend the ghost dogs that live in Penhallow Hall in England. When Polly invites classmate Lucy over, they discover a toy dog. Polly and her best friend, Rex, another ghost dog, become determined to learn about the ghost dog in the toy. When they finally wake him up, they learn that he lived during WWII and was left behind by his owners when they returned to the city with their father after being sent to the countryside to avoid the bombings. Wheaton smoothly transitions between characters, establishing unique voices for each one. Listeners will enjoy Polly's new adventure as she tries to help another dog find joy.' (AudioFile)
