About this listen
The world's most famous demonologists, Ed and Lorraine Warren, were called in to help an average American family who were assaulted by forces too awesome, too powerful, and too dark to be stopped. It's a true story, supported by dozens of eyewitnesses - neighbors, priests, police, journalists, and researchers.
The grim slaughterhouse of odors.... The deafening pounding.... The hoofed half-man charging down the hall.... The physical attacks, a vicious strangling, failed exorcisms, the succubusm and the final terror which continued to torment the Smurls.
In this shocking, terrifying, deeply absorbing book rivaled only by The Amityville Horror, a case also investigated by the Warrens, journalist Robert Curran digs deep into the haunting of the Smurl home in West Pittston, Pennsylvania, and the unshakeable family bonds that helped them survive.

Fans Will Love This One
Not designed to frighten the life out of you. But this one is scarier than 'The Devil Made Me Do It'. If you're a fan of the Warrens, you'll absolutely love this one. Curl up on the couch and turn the lights down low....

A fun read
Like all of the books in this series, this is well written and well spoken. Wether you believe it or not, the story is good.

True Accounts
What the Smurl family went through was horrific and scary to think that this can happen to anyone. Between the demonic and earthbound spirits that haunted and tormented them on a daily basis they did well to all keep their sanity.

Less than expected
Picked this up on recommendation following The Amityville Horror. It never really felt like it broke into a stride and at times the narration was comical. I could easily have left it unread and never felt compelled to finish by the book itself, and only finished because I hoped it would redeem itself.

Very slow build up, found it hard to stick with
This book was extremely slow to get going, found it a hard slog to get through 2/3 of the book. Last 1/3 very good. Narrator very good.
