About this listen

He was framed for murder.

Now he needs someone on the outside to save him.

For 22 years Quincy Miller has sat on Death Row without friends, family or legal representation. He was accused of killing Keith Russo, a lawyer in a small Florida town. But there were no witnesses and no motive. Just the fact that Quincy was black in an all-white town and that a blood-splattered torch was found in the boot of his car. A torch he swore was planted. A torch that conveniently disappeared from evidence just before his trial.

It made no difference. The police photographs of the torch were enough. In the eyes of the law Quincy is guilty and, no matter how often he protests his innocence, his punishment will be death.

Finally, after 22 years, an innocence lawyer and minister, Cullen Post, takes on his case. Post has exonerated eight men in the last ten years. He intends Quincy will become number nine.

But there were powerful and ruthless people behind Russo's murder. They prefer that an innocent man goes to his death than one of them. They killed one lawyer 22 years ago, and they'll kill another one without a second thought.

Excellent

Loved the fact it was loosely based on a real case and a real law firm. Also loved that there are some honest and caring lawyers around.

I’m new to audible and was thinking about cancelling my subscription but this book changed my mind

I’m getting to grips with listening to books and up until this book I’ve been left unconvinced that audible is for me. The Guardians changed my mind, great yarn and the narrator was excellent!!
John Grisham can sometimes fall short of the mark but this book is classic Grisham !!

This story moved me!

One of John Grisham's novels that brought me to tears. So moving, so achingly real and the narrator's ability to change voices for the characters was very well done! Did not want this one to end!

Great Novel

A great novel, with a good storyline. I thoroughly enjoyed reading it the "audible" way.

Another fantastic book by Grisham

I really enjoyed the story, some court room drama but it is almost like a detective story. I couldn't stop listening how The Guardians turned a dire situation into a successful conclusion. The narrator was great also.

Capturing

Well written and captivating story, throughout the story it engages you the whole way through and gives you sense of guilt for the wrongly convicted. Great listen and instantly puts you in a relaxed state of mind ready to take in the whole story thanks to the narrative voice on the other side and the structure of the story building up with all the details and extended characters. Definitely a recommendation
