About this listen

Andrew McCarthy grows concerned for his family after he catches a young man, Zachary Denton, photographing his daughter, Grace McCarthy, and other children at a park. To his dismay, Zachary talks his way out of trouble when he’s confronted by the police. He hopes that’s the end of it. Then he finds Zachary at a diner and then at a grocery store. He knows their encounters aren't coincidences. And just as Andrew prepares to defend his family, Grace vanishes.

As the police search stalls and the leads dry up, Andrew decides to take matters into his own hands. He starts by searching for sex offenders in the area and researching enhanced interrogation techniques.... He convinces himself he’ll do anything to rescue his daughter, unaware of the pure evil he'll face in his journey. He’s willing to hurt - to torture - anyone to save his family.

Jon Athan, the author of Into the Wolves’ Den and The Abuse of Ashley Collins, delves into the underworld of internet predators in this disturbing horror novel. Are your children safe?

Couldn’t finish this due to awful narration

What is meant to be suspenseful, dark, and eerie sounds like it’s read for kindergarten students. What a shame.

Delivered what it promises

This book had great notoriety within my horror book community. It delivered on all counts and the fact it mirrored true crimes gives it a feeling of overwhelming dread. This book is for readers of extreme horror only. The narration improves as the book goes on but he is definitely not the best suited for this material. However I don’t believe it warrants not finishing this great entry into the extreme genre. I will be listening to more of Jon’s books after this.

Too graphic for me.. I couldn’t finish it.

I couldn’t listen to this story. Not only does the narrator sound robotic.. but the descriptions of torture to children were too graphic for me. I really wanted to be able to listen to the storyline, but the detail of cruelty the author provides was stomach churning.
I thought I was open minded enough to not be affected by the nature of this story, but I overestimated my openness. I found it sickening to think there are people out there who actually participate in depravity and evil of these extremes.

I loved the book, but struggled with the narrators way of reading and weird pauses. it spoilt it a bit for me, but happy I finish it as was very well written.

Disturbing

This is one of the most disturbing book I have ever read or listened to
I really thought about not finishing it but kept going
I have read some cruel books involving older people but this being all about child abuse was really hard to go with
Knowing there are sickos out there on the internet and how children can become victims like these is really worrisome
Parents need to get kids off the internet and keep better awareness on what they are doing on there
I know parents using internet as a babysitter but this is so not good
I will read more by this author but know this book will have me disturbed for sometime to come

Terrible

The narration was robotic and I couldn't finish listening to it.
The storyline was way too over the top, I think the author got off on dreaming up grotesque ways to torture children.
Worst download ever.
