About this listen
'SUPERB' WILL DEAN

Relentless phone calls interrupt the peace of a warm August morning in the small village of Three Pines in Quebec. Someone has managed to track down Armand Gamache, head of homicide, as he sits with his wife in their back garden. When he finally answers the call, his rage shatters the calm of their quiet Sunday morning.
That's only the first in a sequence of strange events that begin THE GREY WOLF. At first they seem small - a missing coat, a note for Gamache reading "this might interest you", a puzzling scrap of paper with a mysterious list - but then a murder. All propel Chief Inspector Gamache and his team toward a terrible realization. Something much more sinister than any one murder or any one case is fast approaching. A threat unlike anything they've seen before.

So glad Gamache is back!
I thoroughly enjoyed this latest installment of the Inspector Gamache series, and as always, Adam Sims' narration is superb. (I have found lots of amazing authors just by searching for what's read by Adam!) I had read a couple of reviews prior to listening to the story, and I wish I hadn't. This book definitely sets up for installment 20, but the scope of the plot is such that this was always going to be the case. A great story, with many references to previous plot lines. A great read and would highly recommend.

Unbelievable story :-(
This is the 19th book I’ve listened to in this series. I loved all the others, but I found the storyline on this one just so unbelievable and unconvincing :-(
Way too many wild guesses and ludicrous just-in-time feats. ImI hope the sequel is more believable.

Not my fave of the series
A long awaited addition to the series. Very predictable and vanilla except for the final page. Hopefully the follow up book will make this one setting it up worth it

Very disappointing
I have read the other books in the series, but I think Ms Penny’s inspiration has reached the end … I found this, like other reviews, dull and repetitive with an irritatingly ridiculous plot. Leaving the ending as a cliffhanger to set up the next in the series was a further irritant. It was a real struggle to finish this. This series has long ago run its course, save your money.
