Critic Reviews

"Matthew Reilly novels should come with health warnings on the cover ... the non- stop life-threatening action ... is not for the faint-hearted. It’s a wild ride." ( The Daily Telegraph)

Gripping from start to finish.

I absolutely loved The Great Zoo of China. Matthew Reilly's descriptions are vivid and out of this world! I was gripped throughout and absolutely love the lead character Dr CJ Cameron. The narration of this book was really enjoyable.

Typical Matthew Reilly..

The Great Zoo of China is the typical Matthew Reilly Book. Is that a bad thing? No, not really, he has a style and hes good at it. If you want a book that's action from the start to finish this is it. Sure some some of his plot lines and action sequences are a bit farfetched but that's the thrill of it. This book has very close lines with Jurassic Park the movie so if that is your kind of thing sit down, strap yourself in and get ready for this epic action novel.

Wow!

Having previously read a couple of Matthew Reilly books I had an idea about what to expect from this book. However, this book has taken action adventure to another level. This is a book that is begging to be made into a Hollywood big budget movie. The story is well constructed and uses a great blend of suspense and action. It is not predictable and it was very exciting to listen to its presentation. Super job Matthew and Sean. I loved it from cover to cover.

An adventurous romp... with dragons!

What did you like most about The Great Zoo of China?

Matthew Reilly has a way of getting you in to the action very quickly... and then he keeps it coming again and again and again. This style of writing lends itself so well to audio books. But I was equally impressed with Sean Mangan's narration and characterisations. He is a very impressive reader who I will follow here with great interest.

Who was your favorite character and why?

The minor character Gogo was memorable as he added some much-needed comic relief from the very tom-boyish Cassandra and the hyper-masculine others in the story.

What does Sean Mangan bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?

The characterising that Sean brings to the book is excellent. To the point that I will specifically look for books he has read so I can read those as well! His dramatic narration and perfect pronunciation of the text makes for an entertaining presentation.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Oh yes. But it's way too long for that!

If you like Jurassic Park...

Then you'll love this novel. Substitute Costa Rica for China, and dinosaurs for dragons, and you have an excellent techno thriller to engross you for a few hours well.
