Publisher's Summary
When torrential summer rains uncover a bizarrely tattooed body on a Lake District hillside, old wives' tales also come swirling to the surface. For centuries Lakelanders have whispered that Fletcher Christian staged the massacre on Pitcairn so that he could return home. And there he told his story to an old friend and schoolmate, William Wordsworth, who turned it into a long narrative poem.
Wordsworth specialist Jane Gresham, herself a native of the Lake District, feels compelled to discover once and for all whether the manuscript ever existed - and whether it still exists today....

Plot fell apart
Unfortunately the plot became ridiculous halfway through this book. Started well but I found myself scoffing with incredulity at the storyline. Not the far-fetched Mutiny of the Bounty aspect but the behaviour of the protagonist and the leniency of the Police. Disappointed as I thought Val McDermid was better than this. Don't mean to put others off, see what you think. :)

Hohum...can't. stay. awake.....
Well, I wouldn't recommend this book as an introduction to Val Mcdermid. You would be forgiven for wondering what all the fuss was about. Very dull, with stitled, unnatural dialogue and nothing to get excited about at all. I stuck it out for 14 chapters, as I am a big fan of McDermid, but I have decided life is too short to spend listening to this book. If you are *really* keen on the poet Wordsworth or fascinated by the mutiny on the Bounty (yawn) then you may find this a fascinating read. If not, I suggest you give this book a miss.
Narration was only fair to middling.

Poorly narrated
The voice of the narrator is very annoying and detracted from being able to follow the story.
