I might be a grandmother. But I’m not some sweet, harmless old lady who people can push around.
Two little girls stand with their heads bowed in my living room. I’m told they’re my granddaughters. Daisy is nine, and Alice seven. Daisy is the spitting image of her mother. This is the first time I’ve met them since my daughter and I fell out after she married that waste of space, Vince.
They’ve come to live with me because their mother — my daughter — was murdered. In her own home while they slept close by.
I think Vince killed her. But the police can’t prove it. I’ve always known he was no good. He treated my daughter like dirt. I said he’d cheat on her — but she wouldn’t listen.
Now he wants his daughters back.
Over my dead body.
I finally have a family of my own. And nobody is going to take it away from me.

Great twists
Excellent, very well read from the two narrators, and a fantastic storyline with twists and turns that were very unpredictable.

The twist at the end.
Good build up of characters. Great story line had you guessing right until the end.

Wow
Gives a whole new meaning to twists and turns!
Great story/plot… narrators really bring the protagonists to life.
I would have preferred a more definitive ending but if you like suspense, this is a perfect example.

Kept surprising me all the way to the end

enjoyable to listen to.
I enjoyed to story, it had me hooked from the 1st chapter. however I found near the end of the book it got a bit predictable. but the final twist was not expected

It kept me interested
I enjoyed this although the end was really weird and l still don’t understand why that was added on 🤷♀️
I liked the father but it was a little repetitive him saying how down and out he was - the grandmother had a great voice for narration but l thought it was strange how she was so well spoken given her supposed background - all over a good listen that made you wondering how it would end
