Not as good as the first, but still worth a listen

After the first of this series I had very high hopes for this book. I was left a little flat.
The main story is a little.... I don’t know how to explain.... annoying? Maybe. It's off for Shaw and doesn't embrace Deavers literary talent. It may be deliberate but just seems amateurish and forces action or suspense scenes where they don't need to be, just to break the monotony.
The underlying story of Ashton and his mystery is still captivating and I will absolutely be continuing with this series.
You do need a refresher course in the first book as this one references it a little bit.

Ridiculous plot

Convoluted plot, unbelievable characters, I couldn't decide whether it was a comedy or not. So sick of superheroes who can dodge bullets and disarm evil men with their bare hands. Quit listening when the plot took another ridiculous turn. Deaver has destroyed his reputation with this one.
