About this listen

BOOK 14 IN THE CHRONICLES OF ST MARY'S SERIES, FROM THE MILLION-COPY BESTSELLER JODI TAYLOR.

St Mary's is under investigation. Their director has been shot and Max is Number One Suspect. Can things get any worse? We all know the answer to that one.

Max needs to get away - fast - and a Brilliant Idea soon leads her to a full-scale uprising in twentieth-century China. If she can come by a historical treasure or two in the process, even better. That is, if she makes it out alive.

Then there's the small matter of Insight - the sinister organisation from the future hell bent on changing History for their own dark ends. Having successfully infiltrated their ranks, Max is perfectly placed to stop them. But she knows her cover will soon be blown - because it's already happened.

Can Max take down Insight before they come after her? The circle is closing, and only one can survive...

For fans of Terry Pratchett, Jasper Fforde, Richard Osman's Thursday Murder Club series and Doctor Who.

The was an excellent listen

As usual, the narration is absolutely first class. After 13 stories, this instalment is as fresh as ever and did not disappoint. This is worth a read/listen.

Bloody brilliant!

Definitely worth the read! Have listened to all of the stories so far and finished the time police first…

The reader is BLOODY BRILLIANT! I love all the accents to make it easier to work out who is who in the story. I’ve learnt a bit about history in the process actually going and googling if the events played out that way!

Another winner

It is always a joy to hear the voice of Max so beautifully performed by Zara Ramm. It was great to clear up some of those storylines that have been hanging around for a while and there were a lot of resolutions at the end so it is hard to know where Jodie will go with St Marys in the future. Can’t wait to find out.

Best series ever

The chronicles of st marys series is by far the best series I have listened too on Audible .Zara Ram the narrator really brings out the characters .Her narration really brings the books to life .Now I have finished the 14 books I feel a bit sad it's over .I would really recommend this series if you love adventure drama and comedy all rolled into one .I will now go on to read more of Jodi Taylor's books and hope that the narrators are just as good or that Zara Ram reads some of them .

Loved it

Look, if you’re a fan of St. Mary’s, you’re a fan. And if you love Zara Ramm’s voice as much as I do, then you’ll love this. Zara Ramm doesn’t just narrate this instalment of the series with her usual nuanced talent, she’s gone above and beyond here. And though I really enjoy Jodi Taylor’s stories, she does have a habit of real eating the same tides/plot point/phrase multiple times. It’s a great credit to Zara Ramm that one can just acknowledge these slight bumps in the writing and live on. It’s also a credit to Jodi Taylor that her St. Mary’s (and Time Police) stories take you on some seriously heart-stopping rides all over history and into our hearts. Well done to both of these amazing women! Please keep writing about St. Mary’s for as long as you can, Ms. Taylor.

Only one concern about the book

I love Zara Ramm’s performance , however, over recent books character accents, for secondary or old characters, are becoming inconsistent. Evans has lost is Halifax accent from earlier books and Guthrie voice has also changed.

Perhaps before each new recording a listen to old recoding to recalibrate voices and accents would help.
