Not sure by how much these books were ruined by the narration
While I think the books actually had promise. The narration could not have been worse in terms of drone, cadence and overall performance. The books were written to a slightly above average standard and I think if they had had a good editor, the filling out of the storyline could have been immeasurably better. The characters were fleshed out enough to give promise but never quite made it and the cliches were terrible. But the overall story line had a great deal of potential. It’s a real shame I couldn’t get past the voice of the narrator. Every time a sentence ended with ‘her’, I winced as the eeeeerrrrrrrrr was overly drawn out and the tone dropped each and every time. This ended up making it a very painful listen. While the narration was well pronounced I have no idea how this lady managed to land the position of narrator. I’m sure she would have greater skill in other areas and the listener would not have to put up with the drawling American accent, whatever it is. I do apologise to the lady I’m sure she is a beautiful person but a pleasant listen, she is not.
