Publisher's Summary

Ying Yue believes in love. So when the royal matchmaker selects her to wed the crown prince, Ying hopes that love is exactly what awaits her. No matter that the royal family is notoriously reclusive, rarely leaving their walled palace-and no matter the rumors about the previous royal brides, who after their weddings, were supposedly never seen again. Ying knows that she was chosen for a reason. After all, why else would the matchmaker select her, out of all the girls in the kingdom?

Yet upon her arrival at the royal palace, Ying's dreams of a fairy tale wedding quickly disintegrate. Her husband-to-be is cold, stoic, and utterly infuriating-he and Ying can't make it through a single conversation without wanting to throttle each other. Left alone in her room with only her own reflection for company, Ying begins to see things. Strange things.

When Ying discovers a secret parallel world accessible through the palace mirrors, she thinks she's found the perfect way to escape her upcoming nuptials. In this mirror universe, the prince is kind and compassionate, and it isn't long before he and Ying start to fall for one another.

But there is darkness in this new world, too. It turns out, Ying was chosen as the prince's bride for a reason-but not the reason she thinks. The two worlds have a long and bloody history, and Ying has a part to play in the future of them both. And the brides who came before Ying? By the time they found out what their role was, it was already too late.

'The perfect blend of royal court drama and spine-chilling horror. The Girl With No Reflection is uniquely enthralling, pushing the bounds of fantasy and exceeding with brilliance.' Chloe Gong, #1 New York Times bestselling author of These Violent Delights

'A fairytale at once ornate and lovely yet filled with sharp edges, The Girl With No Reflection reads like petals dappling a pond with mirrored shadows lurking beneath the surface. Keshe Chow's enchanting entry into Chinese fantasy is eerily beautiful, wickedly romantic, and delightfully twisty!' Amlie Wen Zhao, New York Times bestselling author of Song of Silver, Flame Like Night

'A brilliant and fresh new fantasy from debut author Keshe Chow . . . Ying is a wonderful protagonist: witty, brave, and always ready to fight for what's right-and this book is an absolute delight!' Vanessa Len, internationally bestselling author of Only A Monster and Never A Hero

Editorial Review

A tightly wound YA debut ready to spring
From the moment I started listening, I found The Girl with No Reflection hard to stop. It’s creepy and mysterious, with question upon question building up as we descend deeper into the world of this Imperial China-inspired fantasy. Ying is set to be betrothed to the crown prince of the royal family, but the royal family is hiding so many dark secrets, especially about the past brides that have married into the family, that she’s not all too excited about her marriage. And she was right to worry. Cindy Kay, our narrator, lulls the listener into a trance as we enter the mirror world with Ying. There’s plenty to terrify, but there’s love here too, and I found Keshe Chow’s debut novel to be a satisfyingly topsy-turvy portal fantasy. — Melissa B., Audible Editor
