Publisher's Summary
This body would be the last for Zachariah Lazarus....
The Crystal Killer’s latest casualty was discovered in a sleepy town in the Pacific Northwest, Misted Pines.
His years in the FBI, and tracking the Crystal Killer, have taken their toll on Rus. He lost his marriage to the job. And the burdens he carries for the victims was crushing him.
Misted Pines has recently survived a killer’s rampage and a town scandal that made global news. The media was primed to devour a new story. So Rus already has his work cut out for him.
But it’s more.
Something is just not right with this latest victim.
As Rus works with the local sheriff to unravel the mystery, the victim’s employer, Lucinda Bonner, decides she’s going to do everything she can to help.
To help Rus find the killer. To help Rus survive the hunt. To help Rus navigate the intricate, and sometimes sordid, history of the town of Misted Pines.
And to help Rus let go of his burdens.

So good.
Such a great series, I hope it doesn't end here with just the two, would love to hear about the twins.
it's my perfect story, a thriller, serial killers and romance and not one I can figure out the end.
Definitely worth your time.

Another amazing book from Kristen Ashley
Fast paced, thriller with an endearing love story and HEA. Returning to Misted Pines was a real treat. Can and Rus are fantastic, the plot was engrossing and the returning characters from the first Misted Pines book create a wonderful town to vist

Another awesome Kristen Ashley read!!
I enjoy a variety of genres and this was a great example of a romance / suspense blend. Great depth and background for all characters (as always). I especially like Kristen ending her stories with a glimpse into the future of the storyline.

A great romantic thriller with a HEA
THE BOOK: I love the way Ashley handles the romance in this series. The characters are mature adults and don't fuck around pretending to hate each other for half the book, I know Enemies to Lovers is very popular right now but I've been kind of sick of seeing it in every other romance so this is a great change of pace. She lets the primary drama/tension come from the thriller and mystery elements and doesn't feel the need to add a bunch of artificial relationship drama between the main characters. That being said the relationship development also isn't boring, we get some great tension building and some good spice
The thriller/mystery plot was interesting. It had a lot of elements in common with the mystery plot from the first book which maybe is a slight flaw but nothing that bothered me personally.
Both books in this series have left me hungry for more books like them which for me is always a solid sign that a book was really good.
THE PERFORMANCES & something to note: I figured that maybe since the book lists two narrators it might be dual POV, and I love Tara Langella as a narrator so I was excited about that, however, she only narrates a small portion of the epilogue. That being said Alan Carlson's performance was excellent so it wasn't an issue just wanted to note that so people know what to expect.
The only thing that would've made it better is dual narration with Langella voicing the female parts. That would have been incredible. However, thankfully Carlson has a pretty decent 'girl voice' so the absence of dual narration isn't much of a big deal.
The POV in this book is also 3rd person instead of 1st like in book 1.
