The synopsis is off putting. Ignore it.
The synopsis keeps saying this is heartbreaking, but it's no more angsty than a number of other books by the same author, so don't let it put you off. I really enjoyed listening to this. There was character development, no foregone conclusion about what had happened, and like most of the books by the author, a lovely story of found family. A genre I love. Another reviewer was critical of the narrator. No idea why. She has narrated a number of the author's books and I really like her work. 🤷♀️
