Publisher's Summary
A thrilling tale of courage and secrets set in postwar London and Paris, in which a search for a missing husband puts investigator and former war reporter Billie Walker on a collision course with an underground network of Nazi criminals.
It’s 1947. The world continues to grapple with the fallout of the Second World War, and former war reporter Billie Walker is finding her feet as an investigator. When a wealthy client hires Billie and her assistant Sam to track down her missing husband, the trail leads Billie back to London and Paris, where Billie’s own painful memories also lurk. Jack Rake, Billie’s wartime lover and, briefly, husband, is just one of the millions of people who went missing in Europe during the war. What was his fate after they left Paris together?
As Billie’s search for her client’s husband takes her to both the swanky bars at Paris’ famous Ritz hotel and to the dank basements of the infamous Paris morgue, she’ll need to keep her gun at the ready, because something even more terrible than a few painful memories might be following her around the city of lights....

Another wonderful Billie Walker story
Another wonderful Billie Walker book from Tara Moss. I love seeing well developed characters and stories about women's experiences of war, particularly with a strong feminist underpinning. This one gets extra points for disability representation as well as representation of other intersectional issues such as race and religion in the power of police interactions, crime and war. Also, there are just some great characters and ripping story lines.

Terrific
I really enjoyed this book, so much so that I didn’t want it to end. It was delightful and the narration is excellent

Tara Moss is so enjoyable,
however, a different narrator who could pronounce French names would have improved the performance immeasurably.

Not as good as The War Widow
I really enjoyed the pace and development of the plot of The War Widow and was expecting a similar experience with The Ghosts of Paris but I was left disappointed. I struggled to stay engaged with the first half of the book as the plot line had made very little progress. Also there were very few surprises as the story finally unfolded. Overall the plot was mostly predictable with only the occasional twist but certainly no curveballs. I’ll try book 3 and hope for an improvement.
