Publisher's Summary
He's the best man...and that's the problem.
Kristen Petersen is perfectly fine. She has friends she'd fight to the death for and the very best dog in the world: Stuntman Mike. In fact, everything's calm in the world of Kristen, until she starts to plan her best friend's wedding and meets the best man, Josh Copeland.
Josh is funny, sexy, stands up to her sarcasm, and is always one snack ahead of her hangry. Even Stuntman Mike adores him. But he wants a big family, and Kristen knows children are probably not a part of her future.
She's sure he'd be better off with someone else, someone who can give him everything he wants, so Kristen keeps him at arm's length: in the Friend Zone. But as their attraction grows, it's harder and harder to resist falling for the man who seems to be everything she's not allowed to have....
The Friend Zone will have you laughing one moment and grabbing for tissues the next as it tackles the realities of infertility and loss with wit, heart and a lot of sass.
Perfect for fans of Christina Lauren, Helen Hoang, Sally Thorne, Jo Watson and Sophie Kinsella.
Critic Reviews
"Harnessing sass, heartfelt struggle and unapologetic sexuality, Jimenez's debut is as hysterical as it is tear-jerking." (Publishers Weekly)

Loved the banter, confident real female with talk of.. shock.. periods because that sh*t is real
Great characters and storyline. Honest my heart was shook from the scene on the motorbike.
Beautiful love between the 2 main characters

Great characters but a bit repetitive
Great story idea but gets a bit repetitive and frustrating as to why they can’t be together.

Easy listen
This was a lovely story, mostly well written. Only let down for me was the repetitive nature of the MF character. The author started building the MF backstory beautifully, then it seemed to stall and never really went anywhere after that.
However, after hearing the authors note at the end, it made more sense! The MF characters issue with infertility was the authors best friends story and often real life does not end on a HEA. Thankyou!

This book. Omg. My favourite of Abby’s so far with Yours Truly a close second. This one just hits you right in the heart, I recommend reading this one then The Happy Ever After Playlist because I did it the other way around and I think I would’ve connected sooo much more with the characters if I had read this first…I may reread haha. Amazing, amazing, amazing! Also I have endometriosis and it was so surprisingly validating to hear a story of a woman going through the same pain I have endured - Thank you Abby!!!

Agree with other reviews
I deeply respect what it means to write a good book and know that my frustrations in this story are probably signs of a captivating/emotive experience…but I agree with other reviews. The issues are repetitive and the consistent lack of communication and neurotic behaviour of the main character gets old. If anything, it triggered more thoughts of trauma bonding and how women can build an unrealistic idea of what men ‘should’ persist through if they love you. I found that highly frustrating. However, I still respect the evocative nature the author managed out of me.
The voice actors were a tad annoying. The constant intensity in their voice was a bit ott. MUCH preferred her other novels 😊

Beautiful, heart breaking but frustrating and repetitive
Loved the characters and fun banter. The main character got sooooo annoying with constant refusal. Yes she had some serious health issues, but the repetitive avoidance and leading the man on just became annoying and pathetic. The story went on way too long. The ending was predictable, which is to be expected with this kind of story, but I just wanted it to be over, listening felt like... come on just get on with it, you already know what is coming, you can tell from the beginning of the book. Not as good as other stories by this author.
