Publisher's Summary

Random House presents the audiobook edition of The Fourth Man by Lee Child, read by Jeff Harding.

A JACK REACHER STAND-ALONE SHORT STORY THAT SEES REACHER GOING DOWN UNDER FOR THE FIRST TIME - BUT POSSIBLY NOT THE LAST. It's a short listen, but perfect for a coffee break.

Jack Reacher, ex-military drifter of no fixed abode, is stalked and tracked down by an FBI agent. She tells him that in a house raid in Sydney, Australian law enforcement found a list. There were four people on it, including him. The other three are dead.

Hours later, Reacher is in the air, on his way to Sydney. What was the evil buried twenty-five years ago, that has now resurfaced?

Will Reacher be able to find the killers, before they find him?

What you’d expect

Short story. Bad guys, teacher goes after them. He wins (spoiler alert) and story ends.

The Aussie accent in this was terrible!

Couldn't they have used an actual Australian to read the Australian character's voice. And use actually Australian pronunciations and terms for things the Australian character said. Otherwise, I read every Lee Child's and Reacher book. So still a good short, short story.

Not his best work

I could listen to Jeff Harding all day.
To me his voice IS Jack Reacher.
Imagine my disappointment when this eagerly awaited story came to an abrupt end at 30 minutes!
I was royally ripped off!
Plus I used up a monthly credit!
What a sad waste.

Short story about Reacher in Australia.

A short story about Jack Reacher in Sydney, if only it were true.

It does follow the characters usual way of operation which is cleverly done for a short story.

Narrator

Mr Harding cannot do an Australian accent AT ALL .. better not to attempt it because it spoils the narration totally.

I had hoped that the minutes typed for this book were incorrect, but no! I can't believe I wasted a whole credit (NZ$17.99!) on that!!
