About this listen

The first three interconnected stand-alone fairy tale retellings from the Four Kingdoms series

Book 1 - The Princess Companion: A Retelling of The Princess and the Pea: This retelling of the classic fairy tale The Princess and the Pea reimagines the risks and rewards that come when one royal family goes searching for a true princess.

Book 2 - The Princess Fugitive: A Reimagining of Little Red Riding Hood: In this reimagining of the classic fairy tale Little Red Riding Hood, the girl in the red hood has been swallowed up by the wolf and must decide if she's willing to fight for her freedom, no matter the cost.

Novella 2.5 - Happily Ever Afters: A Reimagining of Snow White and Rose Red: Sarah and Evelyn have already risked everything to help Ava win a crown. But they soon learn that a coronation is a beginning, not an ending. Not everyone in Rangmere is happy to see the young queen on the throne, and intrigue and danger lurk all around.

The cousins find themselves fighting not only for their new kingdom but also for their own survival in the royal court. When a new threat emerges, the two girls must defeat it to both save the crown and secure their own happily-ever-afters.

Enjoyable

I really enjoyed the retelling of these old fairytale. The way they all tie together to make a fantastic adventure. I felt very drawn in to want to find out what happens to the characters. It was hard to put this down.

Love!

The Princess Companion: I adore Alyssa’s strong character, and Max’s trust and love, Melanie Cellier deserves an award for the most creative, clear stories ever!
The Princess Fugitive: Ava is such a reliable character, and I love how she fights her inner wolf. Hans too: splendiferous, I love how you included a bouncy, energetic character, Sarah brightens the story.
Rose red: Princess Blanche is a bit too weak of a character, and is strengthened by Alexander. Sterling- an interesting character indeed, fled from Elden and Selene, he has no loyalty whatsoever, which makes him a great villain sidekick.
I adore this series!

Fun Fairy tale retellings

Little bit of adventure, little bit of mystery, plenty of character growth and romance (of the warm fuzzy variety, not steamy at all!). I enjoy the characters. Good for a fairly light read/listen but with some depth. The changing voices of the narrator were not always well done and sometimes slightly confusing as to who was talking, but mostly OK.
