Captain Jack Aubrey, RN, arrives in the Dutch East Indies to find himself appointed to the command of the fastest and best-armed frigate in the Navy. Although there is a similarity in the Master and Commander books I still find each one interesting and satisfying.

I read this story many years ago as part of the series but had not recalled its power nor the pleasing style. it's much more than a way point in the story. it's a masterpiece in its own right.
