About this listen
To lose your family is heartbreaking.
To be forgotten by them is unforgivable.
Cassie and Erin are sisters. They are close – in age, looks and personality – but there is one crucial difference: Cassie is adopted.
At 17, Cassie sets out to find her birth mother. She is hungry for the truth, but she discovers her adoption was far more complicated than even she could have imagined. In uncovering her real identity Cassie learns her adoptive parents have kept a terrible secret from her her whole life, which now threatens to destroy everything she has ever held dear.

story okay
The book has an interesting storyline however I only made it half way through and then jumped to the end. I found the narration distracting and not at all enjoyable. Perhaps this is just me and I should have listened to the sample before purchasing the audiobook.

Could very well be triggering for some
I would not really have chosen to listen to this book. Half way through, I wanted to give up, yet I wanted to know what happens. The DV in the story is very disconcerting and may be triggering. The narration leaves a lot to be desired, or more aptly, the editing. Many words have lost their initial consonants. An interesting story, but not one a would really recommend.

Storyteller
The narrator intermittently throughout the telling used 'he' instead of 'she' for Cassie and sometimes sounded like 'Cassie' was 'Essie'. Disconcerting to listen to with out knowing when it was going to happen.
Lea almost made me stop listening but I did persevere to the end.

Good story - rotten narration
Look, I enjoyed the story and it raised some interesting perspectives. But either the narrator has a weird speech impediment or the editing is woeful. The initial consonants of so many words are missing. Tom and Grace are frequently Om and Race; Cassie is often Assie. But not always. And it’s not just names. Sometimes I was flat out figuring out the meaning of sentences. I won’t be getting any more books with this narrator

Wonderful twists and turns
A very well written and spoken story. It saddens me that this happens in real life more often than we know. l myself struggled and still do as a mother due to my very dysfunctional childhood. Much of this l can resonate with its well written. Cheers to you for listening to those that shared this heartbreakingly sad story.
Yes a sequel its a definite so much more we want to know.

Sad and soapy
The heartbreaking story of when one sibling is adopted into a loving family and the other is raised by the system. I will admit there were times when I threw the book across the couch in annoyance at the behaviour of some of the characters but there were also moments when I got soppy and sentimental. Not the best book I have read this year but certainly not the worst either.

Couldn't get through it
Really struggled with this one. I hate being unkind when someone has put so much effort into writing a book but this was a slow story and the writing style was a bit cringey.
