About this listen

In the sun-drenched Sicilian hills, four women learn the lessons of a lifetime at the Food of Love Cookery School.

In a remote Sicilian mountain town, four women arrive at a cookery school, each at a turning point in their lives.

Moll is a foodie and an exhausted working mum on the holiday of a lifetime. Tricia, a top London lawyer is taking a break from the demands of her job and her family. Valerie, consumed by grief following the death of her partner, is trying to figure out how to live a life without him. And recently divorced Poppy has come to Sicily to learn about the place that her grandfather was born before emigrating to Australia.

Luca Amore runs the school, using the recipes passed down to him by generations of Amore women. He expects this course to be much like all the others - but as sparks fly, friendships are made and secrets are shared. And for each of them nothing will ever be the same.

Critic Reviews

Her writing's so descriptive you'll crave Italian food just reading about four women who arrive at a cookery school in Sicily at a time when their lives are in turmoil. . . Surprises are on the menu! (Alex Gordon)

Enjoy Food Enjoy Life!

This was a really charming book. The story of four ladies and their eight days at a small Sicilian cooking school will have you drooling at the description of the fabulous food, enjoying their cups of freshly made coffee and pastries for breakfast, sipping glasses of peseco before dinner, all whilst taking in the beautiful Sicilian landscape.
This is a very gentle story with characters that reveal themselves over the course of their stay - nothing dramatic or life changing - just four very different people who get to share a wonderful experience together.
The narrator, Harriet Carmichael, does a fabulous job as the ladies come from Australia, England and the US plus the Italian accents required.
Come for the food and stay for the wonderful story.

Disappointing

Expected a story full of the delights of Sicily woven with cooking adventures. Instead a weak boring saga with 3/4 of the women having to get romantically involved and yes one with the cooking school owner! Very predictable and boring! Shame.
