About this listen
Ted Darling was about to kill a man. For the first time in his life...
You’ve never met a copper like Ted Darling. He’s small, quiet. He doesn’t smoke. He’s packed in the booze. But he’s a Specialist Firearms Officer. With black belts in four martial arts.
Then a shift in circumstances makes him swap guns for the CID. His first case is the brutal murder of a teenage girl. His new boss thinks he can wrap it up easily. Ted has doubts over the suspect.
Has he made the right choice in switching jobs? Or has he, as his Firearms boss warned him, committed career suicide?

I enjoyed it
Really good first book in the Ted Darling series. I have read the entire series and I have no trouble in recommending both the books and the audiobook. I was a little unsure about the narrator's voice but it grew on me.

Can’t finish this book
I thought this was going to be a good crime story. However, I find that the first nine chapters are more about the main protagonist and his love life, then about crime. I hate romance stories but can put up with a small portion of the story devoted to that. However, we are nine chapters in, and we still haven’t really got to the crux of any crime story, except for the odd times Ted came up trumps.
