Publisher's Summary

It all starts with THE FIRST MURDER. The first murder from the beginning of time or the first murder of this case; to JERUSALEM "SALEM" KANE, it's all the same. Salem is a private investigator hired to find a young girl abducted from her school in the middle of the school day. Local authorities have had zero leads and no good suspects for months and have hit a dead-end. Salem has his own theory, but it leads down a much darker path than he anything the local police could imagine or are equipped to deal with. His investigation is nearly cut short before it could really get underway, when on his first night in town, he finds himself trapped at the beginning of a murder investigation; the killer working very hard to make sure he's the prime suspect.

One investigation quickly evolves into two as Salem works with local authorities to not only find the missing girl and bring her abductor to justice, but to also find the killer intent on getting Salem's attention. The result of the combined investigation leads to a hidden truth being discovered, couple of unexpected alliances, a reunion of old acquaintances, and a showdown of apocalyptic proportion in the Nevada desert nearly fifteen hundred miles away.
