About this listen
Knowing the Father’s heart empowers the follower of Jesus to love and worship God with their whole being. Too many Christians allow negative experiences within their own families, pop culture, and the media to shape their understanding of God as Father. God is seen as distant, disapproving, or exacting. We need a deeply biblical understanding of God, as revealed most prominently in the life of Jesus, to adjust the misconceptions many of us have regarding the character of the Father in order to accelerate spiritual growth.
In The Father’s Heart, Mick R. Murray combines biblical truth with insightful anecdotes to powerfully convey a list of 10 distinct attributes of the Father heart of God. This book is an invitation to discover—again or for the first time—how a right understanding of the Father’s heart sets us free to risk, to love, and to really live.

Excellent book regarding The Father's Heart.
I really appreciated Mick R. Murray's book about a subject that is vitally important to our (and my) faith: how we regard the Heart of God and God's Heart towards us. Is God angry or distant or demanding towards us, like many earthly fathers are? Or is he something different and better? For me and so many people who are Christians or for people who have rejected God, the lens through which we picture God and perceive His heart is the often distorted picture painted by our own earthly fathers, who are often "Kids who had a kid" as the author writes. I'm going through this book twice and more slowly because this book spoke to me and is a real gem! Mick is a pastor and speaks from experience, sharing some of his own struggles in this area and family illustrations. He narrates well in my view. In case you're wondering its biblically well referenced and seems theologically sound.
If (like me) you suspect that some of your struggles to know God's heart and live as Jesus lived relates to your God picture, I warmly commend this book, which is down to earth , open and encouraging and not a War and Peace epic at 4 hours. Lastly I'd say that to get more benefit out of this you need to take time with this, get honest and ask God to speak to you through it!! :-)
